With the support of a grant from the Federal Highway Administration, the 2019 expansion will add four new stations and 51 docking points. These additions will extend the Tugo program service area, making bikeshare more accessible to more people, and spanning new neighborhoods. The new stations will be installed and available for public use on September, 2019. A map of the new station locations is attached. Stations will be installed at: Presidio Park, Catalina Park, Lost Barrio and at Reid Park.
There are a variety of Tugo pass options available to suit the needs of Tucsonans and visitors and Tugo has sold over 3,300 passes in the last 12 months. In addition to the Daily, Monthly, Annual and Tugo-For-All Passes, Tugo recently introduced two new pass types to provide more flexibility for customers. The $4.00 Single Trip pass lowers the cost to give Tugo a try, while the $15.00 Explorer Pass offers riders an extended trip time to support longer rides. We are especially excited to see steady growth in the utilization of the Tugo-For-All Pass which offers unlimited rides for only $5/year to low-income individuals receiving Medicaid, SNAP, or SunTran Economy Fares. Tugo-For-All memberships account for 22% of all Annual passes sold this year.
Bike sharing is changing the way people move around cities and Tucson is no exception. Over 12,000 trips have been taken on Tugo bikes so far this year accounting for approximately 2,300 pounds of CO2 emissions saved and over 24,500 miles travelled by bicycle. Our Ronstadt Transit Center Station is in the heart of the Congress Street District!
Deployed in November, 2017, Ronstadt Transit Center Station has accumulated a whopping 1,900 rides! If you’ve spent anytime in Tucson, you’ve heard the name Ronstadt. Rock and Roll Hall-of-Famer and 11 time Grammy winner, Linda Ronstadt, grew up in Old Pueblo and spent decades residing out of the spotlight at her 1929 Spanish style estate just north of Reid Park. So, you’d probably think the Ronstadt Transit Center, metro bus hub in downtown Tucson at North Sixth Avenue and East Congress Street opened in 1991, had to be named after her. Well, turns out, Ronstadt’s family roots date back to the 1840s, when her great-grandfather Friedrich immigrated from Germany to, what was, Sonora, Mexico. It was he who started a long line of Ronstadt family members involved in local commerce and the fabric of the city, making the Ronstadt name a staple of Tucson!

We gave back to our riders this year with Free Ride Days! Offering users free rides on specified dates, we invited Tucson to try the system free of charge.
In September, riders enjoyed Free Ride Week to celebrate the coming of fall and an influx of students returning to the city. Hundreds of people took to the streets to ride. Further, encouraging Tucsonians to get to the polls, we also hosted a Free Ride Day to help people get to the polls to vote in November. Whether commuting to work, running errands or exploring Tucson, Tugo’s Free Ride Days gave our city the opportunity to do so from a bike seat.

“Most days, I find myself at the University of Arizona: near University Blvd, at the Main Library, and around the Health Sciences area. Luckily, there’s a TuGo station near each of those areas! During the week, it’s not rare for me to check out a TuGo bike twice in one day (even three or four times, depending on my schedule).
