Ronstadt Transit Center

Our Ronstadt Transit Center Station is in the heart of the Congress Street District!

Deployed in November, 2017, Ronstadt Transit Center Station has accumulated a whopping 1,900 rides! If you’ve spent anytime in Tucson, you’ve heard the name Ronstadt. Rock and Roll Hall-of-Famer and 11 time Grammy winner, Linda Ronstadt, grew up in Old Pueblo and spent decades residing out of the spotlight at her 1929 Spanish style estate just north of Reid Park. So, you’d probably think the Ronstadt Transit Center, metro bus hub in downtown Tucson at North Sixth Avenue and East Congress Street opened in 1991, had to be named after her. Well, turns out, Ronstadt’s family roots date back to the 1840s, when her great-grandfather Friedrich immigrated from Germany to, what was, Sonora, Mexico. It was he who started a long line of Ronstadt family members involved in local commerce and the fabric of the city, making the Ronstadt name a staple of Tucson!
