Bike share consists of a network of bicycles shared in a community and encouraged for short-term use. Users check out a bike from any station, ride the bike, and return the bike to any of the stations in the system. Bike share is a relatively low cost transportation option that offers freedom and flexibility in getting where you need to go. Many cities around the world have invested in bike share and recognize its potential economic, environmental and social benefits
Bike share is designed for short, point A to point B trips, while bike rentals are typically intended for longer, recreational rides.
A station consists of three main parts: docks, a kiosk and a map.
Each bike is locked at a dock, where it can only be unlocked using a bike share key or ride code. The dock has a slot for the bike share key (for Monthly, Annual and Access Pass holders) and a keypad to enter a ride code (for Daily Pass holders). Each dock has a red, yellow, and green light indicator. A red light indicates a broken bike that cannot be unlocked or used.
Kiosks are available at each station, where riders can purchase Daily Passes.
Each station also features a system map to help determine your location, as well as other stations in the system.
Bike share is perfect for short distance trips around town. Riders use bike share to get to work, school, and to access other forms of transportation such as bus and rail. Bike share is also ideal for running errands, going to appointments or meeting up with friends. Others use bike share for exercise or simply exploring the city.
Bike share is useful even if you have your own bike. Perfect for short, one-way trips, bike share can be used when you don’t have your bike with you. Worried about finding bike parking or your bike being stolen? Bike share helps get you where you need to go without being concerned about the security of your personal bike. There’s no need to carry your bike lock with you, and bike share spares your bike from wear and tear.

You can purchase a Pay-As-You-Go Pass in one of two ways:

With the Pay-As-You-Go Pass, you can ride for as long as you like. You pay $1 to unlock the bike + $0.25 per minute of ride time. When you are done riding, find a station and dock the bike. The Pay-As-You-Go Pass allows up to 4 bikes to be taken out, charging $1 to unlock each bike + $0.25 per minute of ride time for each bike unlocked.
No. For multiple bikes on one Pass, one ride code per trip is issued to unlock all bikes. If you want to ride again, please purchase another Pay-As-You-Go Pass.
You can keep the bike out as long as you would like to ride. You will be charged $1 to unlock the bike + $0.25 per minute of ride time until you dock the bike and end the trip. Purchase a Pay-As-You-Go Pass with a VISA or MasterCard at any station or through the PBSC App. Prepaid cards are not accepted.
No. If you would like to purchase a second Pay-As-You-Go Pass before the first Pay-As-You-Go Pass expires, you must use a different credit or debit card.
Once you buy a Pay-As-You-Go Pass, you will receive a 5-digit ride code. Find an available bike, and enter the ride code on the dock keypad. Ride codes are valid for 5 minutes and are for single-use only. For multiple bikes on one Pay-As-You-Go Pass, one ride code is issued to unlock all bikes.
No, but you must use the same credit or debit card that you used to purchase your Pass, and your Pass must still be active.
The Pay-As-You-Go Pass is valid for one trip, but it can be for as long as you like. You will be charged $1 to unlock the bike and $0.25 per minute for the duration of your trip until you dock the bike and end the trip.

To use Tugo, you must purchase a Pass, either online, at a kiosk or on your smartphone via the PBSC app. Monthly, Annual and Access Pass holders: insert your bike share key into any dock to unlock the bike. Pay-As-You Go Pass holders: enter your ride code on the keypad on the dock. Once the green light on the dock appears, the bike is unlocked. Remove the bike from the dock by lifting the seat or pulling backwards on the handlebars.
For monthly and annual pass holder, the first 30 minutes of each ride is included in the base price of your membership. Extra usage fees apply after 30 minutes at a rate of $0.25 per minutes of additional ride time. See the Pricing page for more information.

Return the bike to any of the 41 stations with an open dock. You can locate an available dock on the Station Map or PBSC app. Once you’re at the dock, match the triangle on the front of the bike with the dock, and insert the bike. A green light will appear on the dock indicating that the bike has been locked in the dock.
Yes, but you still have to return the bike to one of our 41 stations after your ride. Remember, extra usage fees apply after 30 minutes for monthly and annual pass holders. See Pricing for more information on pricing and overage fees.
Tugo bicycles were designed to fit riders of a variety of heights and sizes. Each bike seat can be adjusted for height using the black lever below the seat. The seat post also has numbers, so you can remember your height setting for future trips. See Meet the Bike for more information. You must be 18 years or older to ride Tugo.
The first 30 minutes of each ride is included in the base price of your Pass. Extra usage fees apply for each ride that exceeds 30 minutes. See Passes for more information on pricing.
Bike share was created for quick trips and getting from point A to point B. Rides are limited to 30 minutes to ensure that bikes are returned and bike available for other riders.
Monthly, Annual and Access Pass holders can log into their accounts and check their usage. These Pass holders will also receive monthly statements with information on usage fees.
Daily Pass holders can go to a kiosk at any station, push “Account Info,” and review the instructions on the touch screen. For questions or help, contact Customer Service.

No, dock your bike before you get on the bus or streetcar. Once you get off the bus or streetcar, pick up another bike at a nearby station.
Monthly, Annual and Access Passs are activated within 24 hours of purchase. The Tugo team will send you a bike share card in the mail. Want to ride sooner? As soon as you’ve purchased a Pass, you can get ride codes through the PBSC App. See Get the App for more information.
Once you receive your bike share card, log into your account on the Tugo website, and click on the activate link. The ID code on your bike share key is right below the barcode. Contact Customer Service if you need help.

No. Monthly, Annual and Access Pass holders may use only one bike at a time. Pay-As-You-Go Passes can be purchased at any station for other riders who would like to use Tugo.

Once you sign up for a Monthly, Annual or Access Pass through the Tugo website, you should receive a bike share key via mail in 3-5 business days. If you don’t receive your bike share card, please contact Customer Service. You can ride as soon as you sign up for a Monthly, Annual or Access Pass by using the PBSC App to get ride codes.
Insert your bike share card into the slot on the dock. A yellow light will appear, and then the light will turn green. When the green light appears, the bike is unlocked, and you can remove the bike from the dock. If a red light appears, remove the key, wait for the light to turn off, and try again.
If you’re not getting any light at all when you insert your bike share key into the slot on the dock, make sure your bike share card has been activated. If your bike share card is activated and you need help, contact Customer Service.
Since usage fees are incurred for rides longer than 30 minutes or for lost bikes, every member must have an active credit card on file. See Pricing for more information. To avoid disruption in service, please log into your account and update your information if your address changes or your credit card expires.
No. Monthly, Annual and Access Passes cannot be shared and are not transferrable. As the account holder, you are responsible for any usage fees or lost bike fees if you lend your bike share card to a friend. Each rider must have their own Pass to check out a bike.
Pass holders are registered for auto-renewal when you sign up for a Monthly, Annual or Access Pass. The card on file will be billed the day before your Pass expires, so there is no stoppage in service.
For Pass holders who turn off auto-renew in their accounts, log into your account and click “Renew” under Current Pass Plan.

While no form of transportation is risk-free, bike share has been designed with safety in mind. Our upright, cruiser-style bikes are built to be both durable and comfortable. Each bike has a bell, self-powered LED lights on the front basket and in the rear of the bike, and several reflectors to make sure it is easily seen by other people driving, walking or riding. When riding Tugo, riders should stay alert to your surroundings - don’t ride with headphones. We strongly encourage all riders to wear a helmet to reduce the risk of head injury in the event of an crash.
Although adults 18 years and older are not required by law to wear a helmet, all riders should wear a helmet to reduce the risk of head injury in case of an accident.

Avoid streetcar rails. If you need to cross the rails, cross at a 90-degree angle.
Tugo riders may ride on streets, in bike lanes, and on greenways throughout Tucson. We discourage riders from using Tugo on sidewalks, as this increases the risk of crashes at intersections and can pose safety issues for pedestrians.
Adjust the seat for your height, press the brakes to gauge resistance, and check that the tires are inflated. Do not try to ride a Tugo bike that appears damaged or out of order.
Once you’ve entered the correct ride code on the keypad on the dock and the green light does not appear, your ride code may not work because:
A red light appears because the bike is broken and cannot be unlocked from the dock.
The technology on the dock is not working properly and something is wrong on the dock itself.
Ride codes expire 5 minutes after they are issued.
If your ride code is still valid, locate another available bike on the same dock and try entering the ride code again. If your ride code still doesn’t work, request another ride code from the station kiosk by inserting the same credit card or debit card. You will not be charged to request another ride code.
Return the bike to the closest dock and press the “wrench” button. A red light appears on the dock, so no other rider can use it until it is fixed by a technician. Riders often turn the seat backwards, so other riders can see that the bike is broken and not available for use.
Your bike share key may not work because:
You haven’t activated your bike share key yet. Log into your account and activate your bike share key.
You haven’t returned your last bike. You must return the bike before you take out another bike.
Your credit card on file is expired or invalid. Your key deactivates if you do not have an active credit card on file.
You aren’t inserting your bike share key correctly into the slot in the dock. If a light appears when you insert your bike share key, your key is working.
If you are still having problems with your bike share key, contact Customer Service to receive a new key.
If there is a bike in the dock, it means the bike is broken and cannot be used until it is fixed by a technician. Other riders often turn the seat backwards, so you can see that the bike is broken and not available for use.
If there is no bike in the dock, it means there is a problem with the dock. It will not accept a bike return.
Make sure you have inserted the bike all the way into the dock. Try pushing the bike in by the seat while holding one handlebar.
Try a different dock.
Call Customer Service at 1877-ONETUGO (663-8846) , if you need help. Do not leave your bike unlocked if you can’t dock it. Extra usage fees apply after 30 minutes and a lost bike fee of $1200 is charged if you do not dock your bike within 24 hours.
Find available bikes on the Cyclefinder/PBSC app, any station map, or the station kiosk.
Riders are responsible for their bikes from the time they unlock them from a dock until they lock them in a dock after a ride. If your bicycle is stolen while it is checked out, file a police report by calling the Tucson Police Service at 520-791-4421. Call Tugo’s Customer Service at 1877-ONETUGO (663-8846). Riders may be responsible for the fee of recovery or replace of the bike, which is $1200.
Call 911 immediately if you are injured. Call the police precinct where the crash occurred, and file a report with a police officer to document all important information.
Riders must also contact Tugo within 24 hours by contacting Customer Service at 1877-ONETUGO (663-8846). Tell the representative all of the facts of the crash.
Please note that the bike is still your responsibility until it locked at a dock. If you are unable to dock your bike, contact Customer Service and a Tugo team member will come and help you.
Find another station on the Cyclefinder/PBSC app, any station map, or the station kiosk. To avoid usage fees after 30 minutes, go to the station kiosk, press “No bike docks available?” and follow the instructions to receive an extra 15 minutes to find an available dock.
